We fell in love with this little seaside village a few years ago and came every year for holidays with our "boys" Cougar and Rosso. The dogs love their holidays at Tomakin and we obviously enjoy it just as much that we had to have our own little piece of Tomakin - hence in "Wags Away" pet holidays.
Tomakin Beach, just a few minutes walk, is off-leash and dog friendly all day every day which is fantastic for the dog owner and holiday makers and is an excellent swimming, fishing and surf beach. The beach leads to the mouth of the Tomago River where you can follow the river back to "Wags Away". The river which is great for canoeing, has boat ramp facilities as well. Tomakin Cove is also a great swimming beach and children friendly. Barlings Beach is in close walking distance and is time-share dog friendly and the view from the headland is one of the best on the South Coast.

Tomakin General Store, Sunpatch Pde is open 7 days and has a large following of locals and tourists. Martin and Jo serve great coffee (also takeaway), general provisions, newspapers, magazines and an ATM. All their food is homemade on the premises and Jo has a stall at Moruya markets where she sells her famous "Her Pieness" homemade pies which are also available at the General Store.
Tomakin Sports and Social Club is only a 5 minute walk and offers excellent dining as well as tennis, bowls, TAB and poker machines.
There is also a 9-hole golf course a few minutes away.
The famous Mogo Zoo, which houses over 200 animals with more than 40 rare and exotic species including rare white lions is a 5 min drive away and opened every day except Christmas day. The picturesque and historic gold mining Mogo Village is just 7 min away with galleries and speciality shops brimming with traditional and modern art, exotic and unusual artefacts, elegant jewellery and home décor, ceramics, collectable, antiques and cafes. An enjoyable shopping experience in a relaxed atmosphere of contemporary style with old world charm.
For bushwalkers and nature-lovers, the Mogo State Forest on the eastern border of the village of Mogo has a charming natural bushwalk. The birdlife is undisturbed. Bowerbirds, lorikeets, kookaburras, rosellas, sulphur crested and black cockatoos abound.
Batemans Bay is only 12 minutes north and Moruya 12 minutes south. Batemans Bay offers a cinema, 27-hole golf course, shopping, clubs and restaurants. Moruya has great shopping facilities and has a fabulous market every Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm. It is held on the river bank so it is a lovely setting. Homemade foods, great browsing and dog friendly.
